Friends of Fieldway is a community-led charity creating a safe, welcoming space where local residents of all ages can learn, connect, grow, and belong.
Our story
It started with a simple idea
Friends of Fieldway began as a conversation between local residents who shared a common concern: too many people in the community lacked a safe, consistent place to access support, connection, and opportunity.
Children needed somewhere to study after school. Young people needed positive activities and mentoring. Women and men needed spaces for support and social connection. Older residents needed a way to stay included in everyday community life.
What emerged was a vision for a multi-purpose community hub that could serve every generation, a building that would stay active from daytime through evening, with programmes designed around the real needs of local people. Friends of Fieldway was founded to make that vision a reality.

Roy Simpson
Founder, Friends of Fieldway
Roy Simpson founded Friends of Fieldway with a clear purpose: to create a community hub where local residents of all ages can access the support, connection, and opportunity they deserve. Drawing on a deep understanding of the community's needs, Roy has led the development of the organisation's vision, programmes, and partnerships from the very beginning.
